I love period cups. Have you thought of providing those?
Because cultural practices and beliefs about periods, many women will not use tampons or cups and prefer pads.
What about reusable pads? I help make them for a different nonprofit.
Conditions vary from camp to camp, but many camps today are overcrowded. Access to water is often limited. Washing reusable pads or period cups is not always an option. If reusable pads are possible in a particular environment or if women want period cups, we are all for it.
Why aren't you working to change cultural beliefs to make reusable products more favorable?
Our current focus is providing an immediate need to women while they are experiencing many stresses and uncertainties. Getting pads should not be one of them. Our hope is to expand our work to provide clean and safe access to water and toilets so reusable period products are an option women and girls can choose. For now, we are focusing on pads.
